Artworks Amaze

The vibrant artworks of talented students at Murwillumbah Public School have been on display at the Annual Murwillumbah Show. Students, parents and community members were filled with pride at the school display within the education pavilion. Students and teachers have received many positive comments about their creativity, artistic talents and the schools Visual Arts program.

Teachers at MPS view the teaching of Visual Arts as an important component of the school's teaching program. Students are able to express their ideas and creativity, by using a variety of media to create original artworks. art 2

Some such artworks are currently displayed at the Tweed River Art Gallery as winners of the Les Peterkin Portrait Prize. Students created portraits from the perspective of the future, with some outstanding interpretations and stunning effects to participate in this competition. Several students have their artworks displayed in the exhibit, which is worth a visit.

In addition to our regular classroom art experiences, this week several students with identified artistic talents had the opportunity to experience a 3 day ARTSMART workshop. The pieces they have created show real depth of colour, perspective and vision. We are so proud of their achievements.
