Murwillumbah Public School is committed to providing quality teaching programs in all areas of the curriculum. The staff, parents, community and children all work cooperatively to achieve the best possible outcomes for all. This year, Murwillumbah Public School has offered smaller class sizes in order to give your child the best education. Individual students' needs are met through these smaller classes.
Our school offers you the opportunity to take advantage of individualised programs. After consultation with parents and students, teachers have written an individual plan for each child where by these goals are clearly stated. Both teachers and students will review these goals every term with the intention that goals will be met by the end of the year.
MPS is committed to implementing the new Australian curriculum and Science is the school's focus this year. With staff development occurring outside of school hours, teachers are striving to provide interesting, hands-on lessons. Students from Years 5 and 6 even experienced scientific experiments in a real laboratory when they visited The Dorroughby Environmental Education Centre. They collected samples from a wetland area and used microscopes to identify each species.
The transition to ‘Big School" can be a dilemma for both pre-schoolers and their parents. Not at Murwillumbah Public School where teachers offer pre-schoolers a 10 week program where prospective Kindergarten students can attend school each Friday to learn routines and become familiar with school life. Parents have mentioned how grateful they are for the program as their children can form relationships both with other students and their teachers. It is proven that children who participate in this program are very settled, confident and ready for learning at the beginning of their first year. The 2015 MPS transition program will commence in early September. Parents are asked to ensure they enrol their child for this program.
Situated in the heart of town, Murwillumbah Public can offer your child the very best education. Enrolments are being accepted now for Kindergarten 2016.
